Following the success of the 2024 great crested newt (GCN) training programme we are delighted to announce that GCN Training Ltd in partnership with Principal Ecologist James Grundy ACIEEM will again run its popular and highly regarded two day GCN Training Courses from the Olive Grove Conference Centre in Nantwich, Cheshire in March/April 2025.

Delegates with have the opportunity to gain unrivalled ‘hands on’ experience involving adults of all three native UK newt species, their eggs and larvae and practical GCN survey training at a GCN ‘Field Site’ containing 14 ponds that return annual peak counts of 100+ GCN.
The course involves approx.18 hours of direct contact time with the course tutors and access to long term professional support from respected GCN experts and is intended for professional ecologists, university graduates and those working or seeking opportunities in the ecology and conservation sectors.
Has been written and published by James Grundy who, after nearly twenty years as a professional consultant ecologist and a lifetimes involvement with amphibian related projects, is widely regarded and respected as an authority on our native newt species, in particular, the great crested newt. This second edition of his book has been long awaited and is a ‘must have’ and the perfect gift for anyone with an interest in the subject.
These downloadable identification cards are a free resource for ecologists & others who undertake ‘in field’ identification of adult newts, their eggs/leaf folds, larvae, and sub-adults.
